Fun Facts

  • We are the only tandem paragliding center in Christchurch.

  • The unicorn is the national animal of Scotland.

  • We fly at one of New Zealand's best coastal soaring sites just 25 min from the center of Christchurch.

  • A high portion of people who are left-handed are also redheads.

  • Paragliding is fun.

Christchurch Paragliding is certified by the New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority under Part 115.  We follow strict regulations designed to ensure safety in every aspect of our operation.  Rest easy in the knowledge our equipment is meticulously maintained, our pilots are talented and experienced and the work behind the scenes has been done in order for you to sit back, relax and enjoy the flight.

Need to know

$200 per flight ($250 with photos and video). Depending on the wind, we fly anywhere between 10 - 30 min.  Allow 1 hour for the whole experience.

Paragliding is very weather dependent.  Please be patient as we will only fly in the right conditions.  Parawaiting is a thing.  Safety is our core value so please remember the old saying 'good things are worth waiting for'.

Minimum 30 kg, maximum 110 kg.  Weight limits will depend on wind strength on the day. You must be taller than 130 cm for safety reasons.  We are not agest! Though people under the age of 16 are required to have guardian consent.

We are open to all!  Though some additional measures must be taken for unvaccinated people (mask wearing and reduced close contact time).

For an extra $50 we aim to capture a good range of high quality photos and a raw video for your record.  We use the latest and greatest action cams on earth, the GoPro Hero 9/10.  Picture quality is super good, just see what one of our clients Mike said "yeah, that's super good". The amazingness of the perspective captured is worth the record!

Wind is a tricky one to forecast.  Generally we have a fair idea what it'll be like 2-3 days out.  We will contact you then with a planned time and day and then confirm 1 hour before your flight that all is good (or not).

You are required to disclose any medical conditions when you fill in our wavier of liability contract.  Your condition may not exclude you from flying.  Please inform us in advance if you have any concerns about a condition.

Ideally you will provide your own transport to and from the flying site.  If this is not possible then we can provide courtesy transport within 30 min drive from site.

Dress for the conditions and ideally bring a windproof jacket.  We can provide one if necessary.  Sturdy footwear is required.

The Duck

The Duck is a spreader of love, adventure, and positive vibes with flying skills so good they have to be seen to be believed.  His genuinely humble being sometimes conceals the fact he is the greatest speedflyer in the multiverse.  The only thing greater than his talent is his willingness to share the joy that flying can bring.
